MMLDC partners with the world’s best

by Peng Young, July 21, 2010

The Meralco Development Center (MMLDC), in its mission to provide the best learning solutions, inked a partnership last July 1 with The Electrical Industry Training Institute, Ltd. (EITI) of British Columbia, Canada.

The EITI is one of the world’s leading providers of skills training from lineman to  substation
engineers since 1991. It has trained thousands of industry personnel throughout North America, Asia and the Middle East. EITI programs meet or exceed international standards and regulatory requirements and its business philosophy of "Improved Safety and Better Performance" has become the benchmark of its training all over the world.

On the other hand, MMLDC is the top training center in the Philippines offering a wide array of 'learning solutions’ for various companies and organizations in the energy sector. Leveraging Meralco’s 107 years of experience, its exclusive partnership with EITI will complement its experience and expertise in energy distribution.  MMLDC’s Lineman Training Courses comprise several modules, all of which are intensively conducted in its training camp along Sumulong Highway in Antipolo City, a 6.88-hectare facility complete with classrooms, dormitory, training fields and a driving track.

“We are very honored that EITI, the leader in the utility training industry has chosen to partner with MMLDC.  With this partnership, we will be able to bring in a whole range of programs in power plant operation and maintenance, transmission lines maintenance and trouble-shooting plus our very own curriculum on Lineman Training.  Programs in generation, transmission and distribution are customized to increase productivity and improve efficiencies in the utility industry,” said Ms. Vivien C. Arnobit, Director for Academic Services of MMLDC.

The partnership will allow electric utility technical experts from various Asian countries to be trained by MMLDC trainers in EITI courses – a guarantee that that they have learned the world’s best practices through a rigorous certification course. This scheme would be very cost-effective since prior to the partnership with MMLDC, one had to go to Canada to achieve certification.

MMLDC, your provider of total learning solutions, is located along Sumulong Highway in Antipolo, just an hour’s drive from Makati, and 45 minutes from Quezon City.
